LIFESTYLE AND NUTRITION
Okay so here’s the deal – most of us know that exercise is good for us but many “avoid it like the plague!” We become so used to living without exercise as the pace of life places many demands on our time. For many people it’s simply that there just isn’t enough time in the day. For many, it’s to do with the misconception that exercise has to be vigorous to be worthwhile… hey and quite frankly all that hot n sweaty exercise malarkey sounds like a whole lot of time and effort thank you very much!
The truth of the matter is the more we move the greater potential we have to be healthy. By simply moving more we could be:
Reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes / Improving joint stability / Increasing and improving range of movement / Helping to maintain flexibility as we age / Maintaining bone mass / Preventing osteoporosis and fractures / Improving mood and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression / Enhancing self esteem / Improving memory / Reducing stress
Quite an impressive list for simply moving our bodies a bit more – me thinks!
Exercise doesn’t have to be painful, uncomfortable and leave you breathless. Simple daily activities such as walking the family dog, doing a spot of gardening, opting to walk (or scooter?!!) to work, taking the stairs rather than the “lazy man’s lift” all go a long way towards making us healthier.
Don’t think that being fit is only for the youthful, the body conscious or the gym brigade! The health benefits shown above are available to EVERYONE regardless of shape, size or special health considerations.
